Agreement between the Danish and Iraqi Governments to deport refugees back to Iraq is playing politics with peoples lives

 

On 14/5/09 reports came through the Danish media of a deal signed between the Danish Government and the Iraqi Government to deport Iraqi refugees in Denmark back to Iraq. 

 

The Iraqi Government, the puppet of the occupation forces, is responsible for destroying the daily life of the Iraqi society.  They have caused widespread unemployment, they are anti-women’s rights, they rule as a militia and they have imprisoned and executed many human rights defenders.

Detainees on hunger strike to protest against mass deportation this week

 

-         People on flight to be sent back to Kirkuk

-         Families to be split apart

 

 

Najih Ahmed Mohammed and Serkar Khadir Rao, two detainees in Brook House immigration prison are on hunger strike in protest against the deportation of them and another sixty people back to Iraqi Kurdistan scheduled for this week (they are not told the date of the flight). 

 

Najih Ahmed Mohammed has not eaten food for ten days.  A resident of Plymouth, he says:  

‘I have a three year old daughter and a partner here in the UK.   I came because my life was threatened by an Al Qaeda group.  I’ve been on hunger strike for 11 days – it’s the only thing I can do as I can’t face leaving.  I’m doing this for my life and my children’s life.’

The detaining and deportation of Kurdish asylum seekers

 is an inhumane policy and must be stopped!

Stop agreement with KRG which plays with the lives and future of Iraqi Kurdish asylum seekers

A number of Kurdish asylum seekers have been recently arrested .they contact IFIR from different detention centres .the Home office has given them notices stating they could be removed in the next 72 but no less than 15 days. We believe that the Home Office is planning to deport next week.
